Description

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman was elected in 2010 as New York State's highest-ranking law enforcement officer. Under his supervision the Attorney General's office won the biggest financial penalties cases in the state's history against a number of large banks in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. He oversaw the investigation into Volkswagen's auto-emissions scandal, and in the process won New York a $32.5 million environmental penalty against the auto manufacturer. As attorney general he created the Organized Crime Task Force, which has brought over 800 accused drug and gun dealers to justice to date. Along with other state attorneys general he has sued to block President Trump's immigration ban on predominantly Muslim countries. Prior to service as Attorney General he was a leading reformer in the State Senate in efforts to end the Rockefeller Drug laws and to crack down on health insurance companies denying coverage to vulnerable populations.

The Learning from the Masters Series is presented with gratitude to Arlene and Benedict Morelli for their generous support of Cardozo School of Law and the advancement of its professional skills programs.
