About this event
Key learnings
- How to deliver peer research projects with children and young people
- How the pandemic has affected children and young people’s participation and engagement
- How to develop future projects and services as we continue to move into a new phase of the COVID-19 pandemic
This free webinar is aimed at those working in participation and/or engagement roles with children and young people.
Background
In May 2021, with funding from the Young Start programme, Children in Scotland created a new peer research project to gain greater understanding of participation and engagement with children and young people through the pandemic. Within it, a group of four young researchers aged 14-18 years worked together to examine how engaging online rather than face-to-face changed the way children and young people share their views.
Attendees will hear directly from the four young peer researchers about their involvement in the project and the findings of their research. The group will share the learnings from six case studies and their views on how the pandemic affected how children and young people want to engage with organisations, and what we can learn from this. The researchers will also identify what they think has worked well and how organisations can develop projects and service delivery in the future.
Facilitator
This event will be delivered by the Children in Scotland project team including Chris Ross (Senior Policy, Projects and Participation Officer) and Parisa Shirazi (Policy, Projects and Participation Officer) alongside 4 young peer researchers: Ellie, Emma, Katie and Ishan, who designed and delivered the research project.
The team will discuss and reflect on the different roles they took on the project and the ways it has affected their knowledge, understanding and practice.
