Event description

Description

Join members of the VT9to26 Coalition and spend an afternoon with Dr. Lasse Siurala, a Finnish expert on youth work. Dr. Siurala will lead a small group discussion on how we can support healthy youth development, with time for questions and take-aways for Vermont. The discussion will be guided by Holly Morehouse, executive director of Vermont Afterschool, and will focus on best practices, policy, and strategies on how to engage with older youth. Let's learn from Finland and make Vermont a truly great place for youth and young people to thrive!

Dr. Siurala is currently an adjunct professor at Aalto University, Helsinki. His areas of expertise include: managing integrated youth policies/projects; youth participation; measuring the impact of youth work/youth development (including the potential of a narrative approach); the role of youth work in Europe as an educational field; youth work in Finland; digital youth work, and other new forms of youth work; and the role of history in understanding youth work/youth development.
