Event description
Soldering is a basic skill every maker should know and once mastered opens up a world of possibilities.

About this Event

TechAhoy Inc. is a non-profit community space on the Queens/Brooklyn border where children and adults of all backgrounds and experience levels can learn about computer programming, robotics, art, and technology in a creative, collaborative, and inclusive setting. We embrace the DIY philosophy and encourage community members to create, tinker, and explore.

Learn to Solder

In this one and a half our workshop you will learn about different types of solder, handling a soldering iron, and the basic techniques for through-hole soldering.

Once you’ve had enough practice, you’ll put your newly learned skills to the test working with our custom designed circuit board we call robbienano. You’ll solder on two blinking LEDs that act as eyes and the battery clip that helps make those eyes light up! Finally, you’ll take some trusty hot glue and adhere a lapel pin making robbienano portable.

Each participant will be able to keep their robbienano and take it home.

Class size is limited to six participants or parent/guardian + child teams.

Requirements

All participants must sign a liability waiver.

This is a kid friendly class (10+) - Parents/Guardians are encouraged to work as a team with their child.
