Event description

Description

New knitters can improve their knitting skills one square at a time. We will be using the Building Blocks Book by Michelle Hunter.

You will learn to read charts and patterns, do Bobbles, decreases, cables, mock cables, twists, and slipped stitch patterns while you complete twelve blocks. If you get stuck, we are here to help!

Once the blocks are knit, we will learn to seam our blocks together. Who doesn’t need to improve their finishing work? This is a great way to build skills quickly as the blocks are “small” and the skills are “many”. These blocks are used to build a beautiful afghan while you improve your knitting skills. Each week is a new block. You pay as you go. You need help, take a class! The cost is $10.00 for each block and $20.00 for the seaming class. You will receive 10% off of materials needed for the class.

Buy all block classes at once to receive a 30% discount plus you get the seaming class free! Pay $90.00 to get this incredible deal for hands on training! (Pay in our store or call us for this option)

Materials needed for class:

  1. Building blocks Book by Michelle Hunter.

  2. Worsted weight yarn - Berroco Vintage worsted, and Cascade 220 superwash are excellent options. Non machine washable choices are Universal deluxe worsted and Berroco Ultra alpaca worsted. Each skein of yarn yields at least 1.5-4 blocks per skein depending on yarn chosen and knitting gauge. Plymouth encore is your budget friendly yarn of choice and yields the most blocks! Hint- when choosing yarn, lighter non variegated colors are best.

  3. Needles in appropriate weight for yarn.

  4. US #7-8 depending on your gauge.

  5. Darning needles to weave in ends.

  6. Stitch markers to mark repeats and beginning of round.

This week we'll be working on:
