Build two apps in this workshop!
The first part of the workshop will have the students developing their own private chat app for chatting with you! They'll create a Bluetooth Chat application in which two paired devices can send text messages to each other. We will explore the basics of establishing a connection between two Bluetooth devices and then passing a text between them, get familiar with each of the client and the server side that are needed to establish a successful connection, conditional if-statements and how to use TinyDB to store the messages in a server.
The second application will be a Twitter Client. Using this app, a tweet can be made, the timeline can be seen , uploading pictures and receiving mentions is also possible. We will explore If-then statements, variables, procedures, click events and error handling.
We also conduct interactive group activities which demonstrate computer science concepts for beginner and eight hour workshops. This will be an unplugged activity (without computers) where we introduce your child to computational thinking through concepts such as binary numbers and data compression, separated from the distractions and technical details of having to use computers.
At iTrain Kids, we believe in quality of education which is why our half day workshops are capped at 12 students, and we ensure that at a minimum there is 1 trainer for every 6 students.
Anyone can learn to code with our workshop and no prior experience is required.
