For children aged 8-14.
Your child can create their very own Android app! Learn core programming principles and computer science concepts through creating and testing their own code. By the end of the activities, your child will have created their very own app that can be shared with friends and family.
In this course, your child will learn how to create a doodle app where they can draw and doodle on photos and pictures. In doing so, your child learns key programming principles that teach the fundamentals of conditionals statements (such as if then else statements). The workshop ends with a showcase by the children of the apps made!
The workshop includes drinks and tidbits.
Please bring along an Android Device (preferably Samsung S4 and above) for your child to test their code on the spot and also ensure your child has an email address.

Q: Why should my child learn to code?
As the age of the Internet of Things comes about, more and more everyday items are coming online, from tweeting fridges to facebook posting weighing scales. In fact, even now, our lives are powered through code, whether it be the media we consume, or the street lights and toll booths we drive past daily. Code is in every part of our lives.
In school, we learn about the things around us. Now that we're surrounded by code, let's allow our children to learn about it! Even if they do not eventually become a programmer, coding principles are a part of all our lives. Five hundred years ago, the villager who questioned why bother reading when he could ask someone who knows how to read would be laughed at today the same is true of coding as we move towards the future.
