Event Information
About this Event
***UPDATE: Class will be held on Wednesday, January 13th at 9 am. Registration is restricted to those that have attended a L2B1 class or have some burning experience.***
*Due to COVID concerns, all participants will be asked to wear a mask inside and when appropriate outside. Participants will be spaced out when inside.*
This event is hands on training to equip landowners to lead and implement their own burns to manage land for wildlife habitat. Participants will learn how to write a burn plan and will plan and implement their own burns under the watchful eye of experienced instructors. Safety while using fire will be a top priority. Participants will be required to walk a mile in moderately rough terrain and carry 30 lb. of gear. All fire equipment will be provided, but participants will need to wear sturdy shoes and cotton clothing to wear under a Nomex jumpsuit. Lunch will be provided, free of charge.
People that own larger properties (over 40 acres) that are interested in using fire as a management tool to support wildlife habitat are encouraged to attend. Event is sponsored by Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Arkansas Forestry Association, Arkansas Agriculture Department-Forestry Division, Quail Forever and National Wild Turkey Federation.
