Description
Curious about this popular Japanese hand sewing technique but not sure how to start? Using fun Japanese fabric and notions, learn how to choose a design, transfer onto fabric, and stitch it all together. Materials included in the kit: fabric, sashiko needles, sashiko thimble, thread. Transfer tools will be available for use in the class. Bring scissors or thread snips and a ruler. Ages 12 and up.
Carol Ziogas of Kimonomomo LLC has been working with Japanese textiles for over a decade and specializes in sashiko and hard-to-find Japanese tools and materials. She blogs about it at The Ardent Thread.
The ReCrafting Co. in Downtown Alameda is a hidden gem and a great place to find and consign craft supplies.
Can't make it on a Monday? Come to the other class on Sunday, May 18! Call Carol at 925-360-3375 or email at kimonomomo@gmail.com for more details.
