About this event

On World Read-A-Loud Day, bring a favorite pillow, a hot chocolate mug, and all your queer resistance vibes to the Learn More Series Banned Books Story Time!

Our read-a-loud marathon will rejoice in banned picture books featuring LGBTQIA+ characters and honor the pioneering, first-ever picture books that dared to disrupt gender norms in US publishing. We'll have cookies, tea, hot chocolate (with marshmallows, obv), then end it all with a pizza party dinner. All readers will get a free copy of either the YA bestseller Flamer or the eye-catching board book The Pronoun Book.

You can engage with the authors of those these books at our noontime virtual panel, What's So Dangerous About a Picture Book?: Book Bans and Queer Resistance in Children’s and YA Literature. Click HERE to register!
