Learn Basic Embroidery WebJam
Event Information
About this Event
Start stitching! Learn easy embroidery stitches in our beginner-friendly Embroidery WebJam, hosted online via Zoom. We’ll give you a rundown on the basics of this classic craft!
In just under 1.5 hours you’ll learn:
- How to prep your embroidery hoop for DIY magic
- How to create and transfer your design onto fabric
- How to use embroidery thread
- How to start and end your embroidery project
- How to create essential embroidery stitches, such as the running stitch, back stitch and chain stitch.
Please note that instructions will last approximately one hour and then there will be 30 minutes for Q&A as well as practice.
This class is beginner-friendly; no experience necessary!
Need embroidery supplies? Support CraftJam and its creative community and order a CraftJam Embroidery Starter Kit! We will ship you the kit with all the materials needed to participate (kit must be purchased at least 4 days prior to WebJam to allow time for shipping - shipping is currently unpredictable, so please order as soon as possible).
Suggested supplies:
- Embroidery needle
- Embroidery floss
- Embroidery hoop
- Woven fabric
- Scissors
- Pencil
Neither is an option for you? Look around your home for your true DIY-ad-hoc-emergency-embroidery-kit. Maybe you have a sewing kit from your last hotel stay? Search for woven fabric that can be cut up! You can start with a needle, thread, and pretty much any piece of (woven) fabric. These might not be the ideal supplies, but enough to participate to get those creative juices flowing.
And this is how a WebJam works:
After you purchase your ticket (via the Eventbrite link on this page), you will receive an email with a custom URL link to join. You will be able to add the event to your calendar. Reminder emails will be sent 2 hour and 45 minutes prior to the start. Make sure to login 10 minutes before the WebJam starts to avoid technical difficulties that may delay you.
You have the option to use video and audio to participate. It’s nice to enable video so we can all see each other's faces and projects!
