Learn about the Thousand Islands and More
Event Information
Description
Learn how the Thousand Islands were formed many years ago when a storm-driven sea formed a transitory inlet on the barrier island and left behind a deposit known as a flood tide delta. Finally protected as conservation land, the Thousand Islands perform important roles as bird rookeries and uninhabited properties that benefit many species of wildlife and plants.
Four presentations will fill the morning at the Cocoa Beach Public Library. A lunch break will be provided with an optional gathering at the nearby Juice N’ Java Café. The afternoon will be devoted to paddling trip in the Thousand Islands led by biologist Tim Kozusko and naturalist/paddling guide Jim Durocher.
Proceeds from this event will be provided to the Friends of the Thousand Islands to benefit land management and passive recreation.in these islands.
