Event description

Description

The LEAP Book & Lecture Series aims to delight, enlighten, educate and create connections. Our monthly gatherings will alternate between speakers & book discussions to encompass a wide spectrum of books and topics, including: social justice, arts, entertainment, plus therapeutic concepts.

For the series launch event, we’re featuring Monica Espitia, South Florida Regional Organizer at the ACLU of Florida. Monica will share about and lead a discussion on Amendment 4 which, if passed on the Nov. 2018 elections ballot, will return eligibility to vote to 1.4 million Floridians convicted of felonies who have completed all terms of their sentence.

Stay tuned... Our first book discussion event will be on Thursday, October 25 evening. The book is titled ‘Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption’ by Bryan Stevenson. Please let us know if you'd like to contribute ideas for additional books or speakers for future gatherings by reaching out to us at: info@leapforladies.org.

Interested in volunteering as a mentor? We have on-going opportunities too! Learn more during our volunteer info sessions.
