Join us for a 3 course meal, prepared by our group of retired foodies who cook more, and waste less.
League of Meals
We bring people passionate about home-cooking together, to tackle a creative challenge: team up, use suprise ingredients, turn them into a varied dinner, but waste as little as possible.
We collect perfectly fine fruit and vegetables that can't be sold anymore, and turn them into a tasty vegetarian dinner. Passionate about using ingredients efficiently, we experiment with ideas like turning potato peels into oven-baked crisps.
Examples for dishes we've made include Caribbean Pumpkin and Coconut soup with dumplings, Polish 'Kugeli' (a dish with potatoes and eggs), or simple steamed broccoli with breadcrumbs.
Our retired cooks come from a variety of backgrounds so you can expect some Caribbean, Eastern European, Indian and traditional British influences. They will share with you how they prepared the meal, and how ingredients were used creatively, minimising waste.
Although we will provide something to drink, we will not be serving alcohol with dinner but please feel free to bring your own!
We will be asking for a contribution of min £12 per person to enjoy the League of Meals experience, but it would be great if you would contribute what you think the whole evening is worth. Any profit will allow us to pay the kitchen rent, and buy additional ingredients and supplies.
We are based at Fellows Court Community Centre. Coming from Pearson Street, once you arrive at the square, turn left. We are in the smaller building right next to the big tower block.
If you need to cancel or have any other questions or dietary requirements, please contact Johanna on firstname.lastname@example.org or 07766 778826.
