Event description
Leading the Beloved Community, featuring Christena Cleveland, Jonathan Walton, and Gregory Jones. Open to all Christian clergy.

About this Event

Thriving pastors not only bring people in, they send people out. They work with other Christian leaders to lead positive social change in their community. They work on their personal character and spiritual development. They move sensitively and act catalytically within their context. They build networks of clergy who can challenge, comfort and provide them with collegial support.

In Metro Detroit, these leadership challenges require Christian pastors who have the knowledge, experience, and skills in adaptive leadership to work collaboratively in a changing and diverse religious and civic landscape.

The Institute for Advanced Pastoral Studies (IAPS), generously funded with a grant from the Lilly Endowment, is proud to present its inaugural conference, “Leading the Beloved Community”. Gathering nationally-recognized theologians and pastors to speak on the intersection of Christian witness, congregational leadership and racial reconciliation, this conference will build a network of intentionally ecumenical and deliberately diverse Christian leaders.
