Please join the Robinson Center for Civic Leadership at Foundation For The Carolinas and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Opportunity Force for an authentic discussion around race and economic opportunity featuring:
Dr. john a. powell, Professor of Law, African-American Studies and Ethic Studies at UC Berkeley. He is an internationally recognized expert in the areas of civil rights, civil liberties and a wide range of issues including race, structural racism, ethnicity, housing, poverty, and democracy. Dr. powell is the Executive Director of the Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society and was recently the Executive Director of the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity at Ohio State University. He has worked and lived in Africa, where he was a consultant to the governments of Mozambique and South Africa. He is also one of the co-founders of the Poverty & Race Research Action Council and serves on the board of several national organizations. His resume continues with a long list of accomplishments and explanation for his expertise in this field.
