Event description

Description

The Leading and Learning Series is a forum for community conversation about teaching and learning in K-12 and higher education.

This gathering will feature a short presentation from Courtney Robinson, founder of the Excellence and Advancement Foundation, as well as the opportunity to mix and mingle with leading thinkers from the Austin education community.

Courtney Robinson is the founder of the Excellence and Advancement Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming how communities combat the school-to-prison pipeline and mass incarceration. Excellence and Advancement Foundation uses an ecosystems approach to provide prevention, intervention and advocacy. Courtney is also the founder and CEO of Institute for Excellence and Advancement, a consulting firm that assists schools, justice systems and community organizations with critical, transformative and restorative solutions to culture, race, school discipline and incarceration. Courtney’s research interests include youth transitions from institutionalized school settings to community school settings, K-12 teacher preparation, the racial socialization of children and adolescents, and the impact of racial identity development on academic performance.

Light refreshments, beer, and wine will be provided.
