Event Details

Leading Evidence-Based Decisions is an executive education program developed by faculty from Harris Public Policy and Princeton University to train policy leaders in the fundamentals of evidence-based decision making so they can ask smarter questions of their analysts and make better decisions.

By attending this program you will:

  • Transform your understanding of how to extract credible, meaningful, and actionable information from evidence-based analyses
  • Gain awareness of universal information-processing principles in order to draw reliable conclusions from data in any situation
  • Master leadership strategies that engage your team to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of your decisions
  • Learn robust frameworks for applying evidence to decisions with multiple objectives and uncertainty

Who should attend:

  • Leaders in any organization who receive briefings that present evidence to justify different courses of action
  • Civilians who have served at the Director and Senior Director level or equivalent
  • Military officers at the O4, O5, O6 level or above (generally Majors, Lieutenant Colonels, and Colonels or higher) as well as senior non-commissioned officers (NCOs)
  • Team leaders in the intelligence community
  • Other policy professionals leading scenario planning and evidence-based policy making

FAQs

How can I contact the organizer with any questions? Please contact harris_exec_ed@uchicago.edu with questions.

Are hotel accomodations included? Participants are responsible for making their own arrangements for accommodations. For those coming from out-of-town or wanting to stay in downtown Washington, D.C. during the program, there are numerous hotels near the Office of Federal Relations. See Nearby Hotels.

Are any meals included? Breakfast, lunch, and coffee breaks are available each day as well as a welcome reception immediately following class the first evening. 

Is there any work I have to do before the program starts? There will be brief articles to read before the program starts. These articles will be available three to four weeks prior to the program start date.

When is the deadline for registrations? We highly recommend that you register at least two weeks in advance in order to have time to prepare for the class and to reserve accomodations.
