Hello leaders!

Once you’ve mastered the management basics of expectations setting, feedback and effective delegation, it’s time to hone your skills in critical higher-level leadership skills. This Fall, we are offering a new leadership series for those who feel they are ready to take on the challenges of leading staff through change, increasing influence with internal and external stakeholders, mentoring high-potential staff members and effectively holding the most difficult workplace conversations. The following outlines the new series and what you can expect to each half day to focus on. All 3 days are included in this series


This series is for those who are looking for higher level leadership skills, those who feel they’ve honed their skills related to setting and clarifying expectations and delegating work, and want to further develop their skills in the areas of influence, leading staff through change, mentoring staff in regards to career development, tackling the most difficult conversations and assessing the strengths and potential blind spots of their own particular styles.

Day 1, What’s Your Leadership Style

Tuesday, September 24, 2019 | 9am - 2pm (4 hours + lunch)

Using the DiSC Behavior Style Tool, participants will build awareness of their own particular leadership style and explore both the likely strengths and potential pitfalls of one’s own style.

Participants will:

  • Receive a report in advance outlining their particular style, which they’ll validate during the session.
  • Explore the strengths and pitfalls of each style through the lens of effective management and leadership.
  • Engage in action planning related to better managing different styles on their own teams and getting what they need most from staff.

Day 2, Leading Through Change and Increasing Personal Influence

Tuesday, October 8, 2019 | 9am - 2pm (4 hours + lunch)

Reflecting back on style differences and incorporating new tools and approaches, participants will gain insight into best practices for leading staff through organizational change and learn to create a tailored influence strategy for internal and external stakeholders that takes their styles into account.

Participants will:

  • Review the three phases of psychological transition that come with significant organizational change.
  • Practice best practices for supporting and re-engaging staff in each phase.
  • Create a road map tailored to influence targeted stakeholders that takes into account one’s own style and the style of the stakeholders you need to influence

Day 3, Mentoring for Career Development and Help with Your Most Difficult Conversations

Tuesday, October 22, 2019 | 9am - 2pm (4 hours + lunch)

Managing staff to achieve specific outcomes is critical in every organization, but equally important is mentoring high potentials to achieve their own career aspirations. In this last session, participants will explore best practices for engaging in career development conversation and planning to keep talent engaged. We’ll also engage in fish bowl roleplays of the most difficult conversations leaders need to hold in today’s organizations.

Participants will:

  • Define Manager, Mentor and Trainer
  • Apply best practices for engaging in career development discussions and action planning
  • Role play the most difficult workplace conversations, topics will be chosen by the participants themselves

Facilitator- Gary Ford

With over 20 years developing leaders, Gary Ford has created a toolkit of practical tools for new and seasoned managers. Past clients of Gary's include Amazon, Expedia, Pokémon, HTC, Theo Chocolate, Blue Kai, Blast Radius and Nintendo.

Will lunch be served?
Yes, a boxed lunch will be provided. A small coffee gift card will be given to each attendee as a thank you.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, you do not need to print your ticket.

What is the refund policy?
The amount paid is refundable until Sept. 16th. There will be an additional $50 fee for cancellations made after Sept. 16th.
