Leadership Through Legislation: Running for Office
Tuesday, July 30 | 5:30 p.m.
The Phoenix | 1302 E. Sixth St.
Free to attend | RSVP Required
Leadership Through Legislation is a quarterly event organized by the Government Relations Crew to ensure that our members are informed about all things political. It's extremely important for YPs to be active in their communities and aware of decisions being made on their behalf and that affect their future. The July event topic is YPs in office.
We often discuss about the importance of young professionals participating in politics; whether it's getting out to vote, spending the day at the Capitol or advocating for issues we stress the importance of involvement. This event will take that involvement one step further and discuss the viability and importance of YPs taking office.
- City Councilor Blake Ewing
- Brian Hunt, former school board member and Executive Director of Stand for Children
- Tyler Johnson, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at OU-Tulsa
- Chris Benge, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs at the Tulsa Regional Chamber and former Oklahoma Speaker of the House
The discussion will include information about financing your campaign, polling, and how to get started. All speakers will take audience questions toward the end of the presentation.
