Event description

You want to grow as a leader by harnessing your authenticity. You believe that you should lead from your values. You have a passion that you want to share with the world to make an impact, whatever size. You want to dig deep to unearth your authentic self because you know that this will enable you to be a great leader.

From this workshop, you will gain:

  • Clarity on your authentic leadership style. You’ll have connected with your values and will lead with them when you return to your organization.

  • Improved leadership presence. You’ll put into practice this skill set that enables a leader to motivate, inspire and connect to others. And you’ll do so with more confidence, having practiced, received feedback, and practiced again.

  • Inspirational storytelling skills. You’ll go back to work telling compelling stories about yourself, your product, or your company to your peers, managers, customers, partners, and investors. Through stories, you’ll make connections, build trust, and inspire change.

  • A broader support network. You will connect deeply with other participants and model what a strong, supportive professional community can be, and you’ll want to keep in touch.

  • Overall, you will be a fuller, more confident version of yourself.

  • And of course we will have a lot of fun!

This is an experiential workshop facilitated by executive coaches who have years of experience helping MBA students and industry executives dig deep into their own stories and understand how they can authentically lead others.

There is no “correct” style of leadership. The workshop will be customized to the needs of the group, covering topics such as giving and receiving feedback, expressing gratitude, building a support system, developing trust, empathizing, and empowering others.

You’ll also learn the Active Communicating® methodology, an approach to leadership development that is rooted in the model of theater as heightened communication. Most essentially, you will develop self-awareness through self-reflection, and you will practice the leadership presence needed to tell powerful, authentic stories.

heartfelt - 1

As a group, we will model an empowering, supportive, psychologically safe space in which people feel comfortable being their authentic selves and contributing to the benefit of the group. Because of this, you will connect on a deeply human level with the other attendees. And you'll want to emulate this back in your organization.

You will get as much out of the workshop as you put into it. Please reach out and let me know why you’re interested. I’m happy to answer any questions: bill_collins@berkeley.edu

Who should attend?

  • Executives and managers

  • Individual contributors who need to influence others (e.g., product managers)

  • All industries. We learn from the diversity of the group.

  • All people who want to improve their leadership through harnessing their own authenticity.
