About this Event

This community event is part of Activate Good's Good Hub POP UP, a pilot-test of The Good Hub! Once launched, The Good Hub will be an inclusive community learning and action space in Raleigh dedicated to connecting locals to impactful volunteer opportunities around the region.

To showcase the type of programming we hope to have in the future Good Hub, Activate Good has partnered with the Dispute Settlement Center to offer this free special workshop open to all Triangle area locals age 18+.

All event participants will get a tour of The Good Hub POP UP space as well as be asked to share their feedback on the space as part of their participation in this event. Both Activate Good and the Dispute Settlement Center will see registrations for this event.

EVENT DETAILS

Leadership Dialogues with the Dispute Settlement Center

Leadership Dialogues (LD) is a program of Dispute Settlement Center (DSC), the state’s founding community mediation agency, based in Carrboro. Leadership Dialogues was founded in 2017 to facilitate difficult conversations among people in communities, groups, and organizations in order to reveal connections, build empathy, and reduce polarization.

Through Leadership Dialogues, we convene diverse voices – people with different politics, religions, genders, races, and cultures – and enable substantive dialogue through unique facilitation techniques. Participants are invited to step into others’ shoes, to own their stories, to listen deeply, and to reciprocate honestly. The skills we practice include reflective listening, connecting with each other even through disagreement, building empathy, and speaking from the heart.

Leadership Dialogues have now been used with great success by interfaith, intergenerational, campus, Rotary Club, and social services organizations in our region. Three out of every four participants have said that their experience with Leadership Dialogues has changed the way that they will approach dialogue in the future.
