Details: Leaders would like to invite students and graduates from all universities, colleges, and high schools to attend our global workshop designed to prepare and motivate individuals in achieving their career dreams of breaking into competitive fields and to teach them how they can succeed throughout their careers.
Leaders was founded in 2010 with a goal to create a network of individuals focused on becoming successful together. Today, the initiative is present globally with members working at some of the most prestigious firms as seen below.
The event will teach students how to build the perfect resume and train them for investment banking, accounting, and consulting interviews. Students will also learn the art of interviewing and specific networking techniques to gain an edge during recruiting. At the end of the event, select few students will be invited to join the Leaders Candidate program, allowing them to become a part of our global family and mentorship network.
Instructor: the workshop will be taught by Sherjan Husainie, the Founder of Leaders and a recent TEDx speaker. Sherjan currently works as an Investment Banker at Morgan Stanley, covering Private Equity clients in Asia, and was previously an investor at Google Capital, Google’s Private Equity arm in San Francisco. In addition to these roles, he has been a member of the Technology Investment Banking Division for Morgan Stanley in Menlo Park, Mergers & Acquisition group at Houlihan Lokey in Los Angeles, and Algorithmic Trading group at RBC Capital Markets in Toronto. Sherjan graduated from UCLA Anderson with a Masters in Financial Engineering and from the University of Toronto with a Bachelors in Aerospace Engineering.
Audience: this event is open to everyone who is interested in pursuing a career in Investment Banking, Consulting, Accounting, and Entrepreneurship. Students and graduates from all universities, colleges, and high schools are welcome to attend.
Schedule: the timeline of the event along with the details of each module are as follows:
9:00 am - 10:30 am: Resume
This module teaches step-by-step how to create the perfect resume. Students will learn the Leaders resume format and will be taught specific techniques and tips to market themselves effectively. Having an effective resume is one of the most important aspects of recruiting and students will learn how to create one covering all sections of the document.
10:30 am - 11:30 am: Interviewing Techniques
This module teaches students how to properly answer questions during an interview and techniques that make it effortless to navigate tough questions. They learn the true art of interviewing which will help them convey each answer with confidence and conviction. The module covers important topics such as explaining your “story” and how to properly answer questions related to academics, professional experience, extracurriculars, and other topics. They key aspect of this module is to not only provide students with content for interviews, but train them in mastering the techniques on delivering those answers.
11:30 am - 12:00 pm: Networking Techniques
This module teaches students how to form, develop, and build relationships within their professional and personal networks. Included in this topic are strategies to build your contact list, reaching out to alumni, getting interviews, and cold-networking techniques.
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm: Networking Session
The final module of the workshop gives students an opportunity to interact and meet with Leaders members from the region. Students will have the chance to connect with current and aspiring investment bankers, consultants, accountants, and entrepreneurs from the Leaders network. This module allows students to ask specific questions and learn from personal experiences of the Leaders members.
Refund Policy: at Leaders we value students who are punctual and respect other people's time. To encourage this, we offer a full refund of the ticket price to students who arrive early at the event and scan their ticket before 9:00 am. To take advantage of this offer, guests must get their tickets scanned before 9:00 am sharp at the front door of the lecture hall. After the event, our system automatically identifies tickets who have a timestamp earlier than 9:00 am and refunds the ticket price back to the same credit card. Students who get their tickets scanned at 9:00 am (or later), or do not attend the event at all, will not qualify for the refund and their credit card will remain charged as before. Also, students who cannot attend the event and need to cancel their RSVP must inform Leaders no later than 7 days before the event (Sunday 9:00 am, September 25th, 2016) to receive the full refund.
Cancellation Policy: in the case that the instructor cannot attend the workshop (flight delays, weather conditions, schedule changes, emergencies), the event will be rescheduled for a later date and students will be given an opportunity to receive a refund.
