As the interest in impact investing grows, investors are seeking opportunities to incorporate impact into their portfolios. Getting up to speed on the latest in the sector can be overwhelming. To help, we’ve gathered four visionary impact investing leaders to offer their insights.

AMY J. BENNETT - Director, Marketing at ImpactAssets. Amy is responsible for brand marketing and PR at ImpactAssets. Prior to joining the IA team, she served as the Director of Channel Marketing & Sales Strategy at Altegris. Amy brings 15+ years of financial services experience, animating brands by crafting compelling and creative stories that illuminate the needs of investors. Amy has also worked extensively with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) in Serbia, Croatia, Bulgaria and Egypt. Amy holds an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Management. She currently lives in San Francisco and is an outdoors-aficionado and a National Outings Leader of the Sierra Club.



BETTINA VON HAGE - Chief Executive Officer at Ecotrust Forest Management. Bettina helped launch Ecotrust Forests and joined EFM as CEO in 2008. Bettina has spent the past 15 years working to promote economic viability, social equity, and environmental health in the Pacific Northwest with a particular focus on forestry. A former vice president of Ecotrust’s Natural Capital Fund and commercial banker, Bettina has over 20 years of experience in banking, impact investing, and fund management. She also has significant expertise in emerging markets in ecosystem services, particularly the forest carbon market, where she is involved in developing markets and protocols for high-quality forest carbon projects at the state, regional, and federal levels. 





GERHARD PRIES – Chief Executive Officer of Sarona Asset Management. In over 20 years of frontier market investing, Mr. Pries has been a founder of a number of private investment firms, including Sarona and MicroVest Capital Management. He currently serves on the Board and Investment Committee of Sarona, MicroVest, Grand Challenges Canada, ImpactAssets, and numerous companies in the Sarona portfolio.





GIL CRAWFORD  Chief Executive Officer of MicroVest. Gil is responsible for leading the company’s investment operations and strategy since MicroVest’s founding in 2003. As MicroVest’s CEO, he led the launch of MicroVest I, LP, the first commercial private equity vehicle focused on microfinance in North America. Mr. Crawford has over 25 years experience with microfinance institutions and capital markets across the globe.




MICHAEL HOKENSON - Managing Partner at Community Investment Management. He leads business development for the firm. He was co-founder of Minlam Asset Management and served as Managing Director from 2005 to 2012, where he developed an extensive network of global institutional and individual investors for Minlam Microfinance Fund. Mr. Hokenson served as a member of the fund's Investment Committee and performed credit analysis including on-site due diligence and monitoring of active investments. Following Minlam's acquisition, he joined TriLinc Global LLC as Director of Sales to launch the first SEC-registered impact investment fund in June 2013 focused on emerging market SME private credit.
