Leader Standard Work
Event Information
Description
DESCRIPTION
A management system is the set of management processes a company uses to manage its people, value chain processes, and assets to achieve a particular outcome, or set of outcomes. Every company has a management system. Peter Drucker described management as the distinctive organ of all organizations and its purpose is to make human strengths productive and human weaknesses irrelevant.
A Lean management system differs from the traditional management approach and requires making a shift in mindset. A lean management system is one that maintains a consistent focus on creating value and the processes the company uses to create and deliver that value. But more fundamentally, it requires a change in how managers behave and allocate their time every day. By embracing the practices of leader standard work presented in this workshop, executives and managers of lean companies can begin to create a culture that:
- Solves problems quickly, creatively, and permanently
- Collaborates instinctively
- Makes continual gains in performance
- Develops the next generation of leaders
- And delivers results.
Leader Standard Work involves walking the Gemba (the place where value is added), observing abnormalities, asking questions, and supporting people in the improvement process. But what do you do on the Gemba? Where do you go, how do you develop and keep the discipline, how do you identify abnormalities, what do you ask people, how do you help them, and how do you know if that help is actually working?
This workshop will highlight the learnings and answers to these questions. The workshop and tour will cover the five major tools of the Leader Standard Work (Gemba Walks, Team Standup Meetings, Andon Response, The Accountability Process, & Mentoring) and will provide examples and learning from leading companies practicing LSW over the years.
