Event description

Description

Many board chairs come into their role with little formal training for the job. Many wish they had done more. Come learn what it takes to be a great board chair. At this workshop we will discuss:

  • Traits of an effective board chair
  • Roles and responsibilities of the board chair
  • The relationship between the board chair and the executive director

The Foundation for MetroWest is delighted to partner with Cahners & Donahue Associates LLC to deliver this workshop designed for Executive Directors and/or Board Chairs/Board leadership. We require attendance from both the Executive Director and Board Chair/Board Executive Member.

About the Presentors

Amy Cahners and Susan Donahue are a professional consultants working with non-profit organizations primarily in the areas of board governance, strategic planning, and fundraising.

Both of their careers began in the corporate sector; Amy in retailing and Susan in hospitality. This background gives them a no-nonsense, logical, approach to problem-solving and decision-making.

Through years of volunteer work and serving on numerous non-profit boards they each developed a love for and expertise in non-profit board governance. After consulting to non-profit boards independently, Amy and Susan began working together in 2003 and Cahners & Donahue Associates was born.

They now work as a team to give their clients customized, common-sense approaches to their challenges.

Both Amy and Susan continue to volunteer in their communities and serve on non-profit boards
