Description

The fifth annual L.E.A.D. (Leader Enrichment and Development) will be s’more fun! This conference is an opportunity for GSSNV volunteers, both new and experienced, to hear the latest news about what’s happening in Girl Scouting, build leadership skills, network with other leaders and receive great training vital to a successful Girl Scouting experience.


Join community experts and other leaders in the movement to increase program knowledge, engage in hands-on enrichment opportunities, and celebrate our local volunteer award recipients at our awards luncheon.


Keynote Speaker: Athena Morales, 2016 Silver Award recipient and 2017 Prudential Spirit of Community Award State Honoree

Upon check-in at L.E.A.D., attendees will receive a $20 coupon for the Council Shop. **Must attend L.E.A.D. to claim coupon.

Workshop 1 Choices

  • Make Your Money Count - Cha ching! Review best practices in troop banking designed to save you time and headaches. This course reviews how to balance your troop bank account, budgeting with girls, and involving your parents.
  • Strategies for Retaining Older Girls - Girl Scouts in 6th grade and older leave the movement at a higher rate than other age groups. This session provides strategies to increase older Girl Scout engagement and retention.
  • Meet the Cookies - We’re introducing new cookie flavors to the Las Veg market! Attend this session to meet representatives from Little Brownie Baker, learn about troop leader support, and sample the new cookie flavors. It’ll be s’more educational and fun!
  • Bon Voyage - Is your troop ready for an international adventure? Learn from a troop that went to Belize, how and why they did it, and important lessons learned.


Workshop 2 Choices

  • Meet the Cookies - We’re introducing new cookie flavors to the Las Veg market! Attend this session to meet representatives from Little Brownie Baker, learn about troop leader support, and sample the new cookie flavors. It’ll be s’more educational and fun!
  • WOW! Journeys can be Fun - Journeys can be challenging for both Girl Scouts and volunteers. This session will guide you through the process of delivering a dynamic, interactive, and fun experience, using the Wow! Journey as an example.
  • It Takes a Village; Understanding Service Units - Girl Scouting provides layers of community support. Come learn about what a Service Unit is, why they exist, how they function, and about the amazing volunteers who pull it all together.
  • Red Letter Days - Learn about the rich history of Girl Scout ceremonies and understand the significance they hold for Girl Scouts, troop leaders, and alumnae.


Workshop 3 Choices

  • Volunteer Toolkit Exploration (VTK) - This demonstration will review the new and existing resources including the Volunteer Toolkit, Brightcore, and our new community volunteering portal and allow you get your questions answered in real time.
  • Just Breathe. Journeys Uncomplicated - Journeys can be challenging for both Girl Scouts and volunteers. This session will guide you through the process of delivering a dynamic, interactive, and fun experience, using the Just Breathe Journey as an example.
  • Protecting Girls - Did you realize that Girl Scout volunteers are mandated reporters of child abuse? Enough Abuse Nevada will present a workshop on how to identify potential child sexual abuse and how to report your suspicions to the authorities.
  • Bridging Past and Future - Experience and understand the traditions that connect Girl Scouts of all ages. This session is led by passionate advocates of the Girl Scout movement, the Green Hat Society.
