It was selected as the Algerian entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards, but received no nominations

In the late 1950s, during the period of the French occupation and in one of the Algerian villages, the French army besieged the population of women and children and prevented them from approaching the only well they supplied by shooting anyone who went there.
