POLICE AND COMMUNITY WORKING TOGETHER:

TO RECOGNIZE AND PREVENT THREATS OF EXTREME VIOLENCE

  • The Global Peace Foundation (GPF) understands that awareness is our best defense against extreme violence and it is essential to educate communities about how such violence hurts innocent victims and what we can do to protect ourselves.
  • The most effective way is to create well-informed and well-equipped families, communities and local institutions. As a result, GPF has partnered with local law enforcement agencies, first responders, community and faith-based organizations to train community leaders to counter extreme violence and to strengthen community-police partnerships. This training is funded by the Department of Homeland Security through a grant awarded to the Global Peace Foundation.
  • The free trainings are part of a comprehensive strategy which includes community engagement events designed to increase trust and confidence between law enforcement and communities to prevent, mitigate and manage extreme violence through integrated approaches and partnerships.
  • To date, over a dozen training and community engagement events have been held around New Jersey including Camden, Paterson and Jersey City. We have developed relationships with community partners who have already called upon us to help families concerned that their children may be targeted.
  • We offer two distinct trainings. One for community partners and one for law enforcement.
