About this Event

Charlie Blackwell-Thompson serves as the first female Launch Director for NASA’s Exploration and Ground Systems Program. She will oversee the Artemis launch countdown as NASA prepares for a return to the moon with the launch of the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and the Orion spacecraft. She graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Computer Engineering, has won numerous awards, and is a holder of multiple patents related to launch vehicle interface standardization concepts, and command and control methods and systems. Blackwell-Thompson’s talk will include her personal path and how she got to the position she holds today, the key foundations of leadership, and how she is adding a new perspective to a position previously held by only men.
