Event description

Description

The Center for International Legal Cooperation (CILC) is kindly inviting you for the launch of The Hague Rules on Business and Human Rights Arbitration on 12 December 2019 at the Peace Palace, from 14.00 to 17.30. The event will be followed by a reception. You can register for this event by clicking on the button below.

We are happy to confirm the attendance of Ms. Bahia Tahzib-Lie, the Dutch Human Rights Ambassado and The Hague Alderman Saskia Bruines. Judge Bruno Simma will hand over the first copy of The Hague Rules to them, after which both will provide a keynote address. In addition, the launch event will provide a diverse menu of speakers and panel discussions.

Background
The Hague Rules bears great promise as a new, consensual and flexible remedy mechanism for both vulnerable people and businesses in accordance with the UNGP-based corporate responsibility to respect human rights across the globe. The launch represents the culmination of years of work. We are pleased to share The Hague Rules with you on 12 December and discuss together how this new set of customized arbitration rules can contribute to filling the judicial remedy gap.
