Laughter Yoga with the Alpacas

Montrose Farms is teaming up with Christine Eartheart, founder of Joy Potential and certified Laughter Yoga Leader, to host Laughter Yoga with the Alpacas on July 11 at 3 pm.
Laughter increases the levels of endorphins – the body’s natural painkillers – and decreases the body’s production of cortisol, a hormone released in times of stress that contributes to weight gain and memory loss.
Laughter Yoga, designed by the Indian doctor Madan Kataria in 1995, incorporates playful group exercises with deep breathing to enhance wellness and joy. It eases anxiety and depression, awakens happiness and forges relationships.
Calling laughter “one of our greatest ‘superpowers,’” Eartheart says a Laughter Yoga class can help students release stress and tension, calm their minds, improve their health and provide an abundance of positive energy. Passionate about helping people rewire their brains for happiness, she also teaches Reiki hands-on energy healing and helps others find their joy.
The one-hour class, which involves minimal stretching and much laughter, will take place in a pasture with alpacas and will be followed by 30 minutes to mingle with the alpacas. People of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate.
