Special Guest Paul Mecurio
A native of Providence, Rhode Island, Paul Mecurio graduated with honors from Georgetown Law School and began his career on Wall Street as a mergers and acquisitions lawyer at the law firm of Willkie Farr and Gallagher and, later, as an investment banker at CS First Boston. All the while, Paul was honing a second career, writing and performing comedy and was hired by Jay Leno to write jokes for "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" (1992). In 1995, with the encouragement of Jay, Paul moved center stage, leaving Wall Street and starting his career as a stand-up comedian.
In 1996, Paul was invited to be on the original writing team for a new Comedy Central show called "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" (1996). In 2001, as a writer for "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart", Paul won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Writing in a Variety, Music or Comedy Program. For his work on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart: Indecision 2000", Paul was honored with a Peabody Award for Excellence in Broadcasting (think The Pulitzer Prize for Broadcasting). In 2002, Paul received his second Emmy nomination for his work on "The Daily Show". Paul has also been featured in "The Daily Show" segment, "Second Opinion", in which he skewered the medical profession, playing an HMO representative with a less than sympathetic mindset.
Paul has shot a television pilot, Sports Central (2005) (TV), in which he starred, co-created and executive produced. Using a news format, "Sports Central" is a funny, smart look at the controversial off-the-field issues and player behavior plaguing sports. In addition, Paul currently has a sit-com in development, based on his life.
A national headliner in clubs across North America and in Europe, Paul has performed at the prestigious "Just For Laughs Comedy Festival" in Montreal and has made numerous TV appearances, including his own "Comedy Central Presents" half-hour special, "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart", "The Late, Late Show" on CBS, Comedy Central's "Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn" (2002), NBC's "Late Friday" (2001), Comedy Central's "Dr. Katz" and numerous appearances on VH1's popular clip shows. Paul has been a guest on Fox News Channel and makes regular appearances on CNN, CNNfn and MSNBC as a political satirist. Paul was featured as a political satirist in the 2004 Presidential Election coverage by The Daily News, CNN, MSNBC, CNNfn, and ESPN2.
Paul is currently headlining comedy clubs nationwide.
Paul is regularly heard by millions of listeners, nationwide, in his recurring segment, "Paul Mecurio's Image Makeover", on the nationally syndicated morning radio show, "The Bob & Tom Show".
Paul was seen in a guest-starring role opposite John Cleese in the ABC sitcom, "Wednesday at 9:30", and shot a television pilot set in New York City for famed producer/directors Barry Levinson and Tom Fontana. He can also be seen in the upcoming film drama, "High Art, Low Life", written and directed by Peter Nourjian and recently shot the lead role in the independent film, "Faux Pix".
Paul has written, produced and directed five short films, the latest of which, "Gloves", an off-center dark comedy has been screened at several prestigious film festivals including "The US Comedy Arts Festival" in Aspen, "The Toronto Film Festival", "The Los Angeles Independent Film Festival" and "The San Sebastian Film Festival" in Spain. Paul also worked on the film, American Buffalo (1996), starring Dustin Hoffman and Dennis Franz, based on the award-winning David Mamet play of the same name.
Host Saurin Choksi
Saurin Choksi does comedy in Chicago and anywhere he can get to on a bus. Sometimes he talks about his family, arrests, girls! (who doesn't like to talk about girls?) and other tasty topics. A few of his favorite comics he's had the fortune to work with are Rory Scovel, Tig Notaro and Ian Edwards. This year he performed at the TBS Just for Laughs Chicago, Bridgetown, & Limestone Comedy Festivals. He is a regular at Laugh Factory Chicago, The Comedy Attic & Second City's UP Comedy. He is a proud alumni of the nation's longest running independent comedy showcase, The Lincoln Lodge. Every Tuesday, he presents Chicago's best comics to his neighbors in Roscoe Village, 2 blocks from his home at The Side Bar Show. Choksi is very affable and a friend to monkeys.
Guest Comedian Subhah Agarwal
When people see Subhah Agarwal writing jokes, they often ask her why she's doing homework at the bar. Subhah still looks like a child but has the anger of an adult. When she's not screaming into a pillow, you can find her getting ID'd by bouncers outside of New York comedy clubs, with regular appearances at New York Comedy Club, Greenwich, Broadway, & the Laughing Devil. She has performed at the Women in Comedy Festival, and was a featured comedian on the popular web series "Modern Comedian"
Featuring Tushar Singh
Tushar Singh started doing stand up in NYC in 2006. He has performed at clubs & colleges across the country, including Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, Broadway Comedy, Stand-Up NY, Laughing Skull Lounge ATL, and various Improv Comedy clubs. His anecdotal-style comedy attempts to make sense of the cultural disconnects experienced by first-generation Asian-Americans. After recently moving to LA, Tushar produces/hosts a successful stand up show in Santa Monica called Unnecessary Evil at the Westside Comedy Theatre, every Friday at 8pm.
Headliner Akaash Singh
Based on a comedy that is driven by cultural differences, an intense pride in his upbringing, and a desire to challenge the audience, Akaash Singh is quickly working his way up to becoming a household name.
Akaash's first spotlight came from his virgin television performance on MTV for their New Year's Eve Bash 2011 where his ability to break down pop culture to the funniest common denominator came in handy, poking fun at the year's pop culture alongside the cast of The Jersey Shore. MTV has taken stock in Singh. They piloted him in the The Desi Weekly in 2012, and in 2013, the hit show Failosophy. He was also on Fuse TV's highest rated show Video on Trial, and he can currently be seen on The Bracket on the MSG Channel, as well as "Writer's Block", a web series on MTV Desi, which he also wrote.
After "Writer's Block", MTV used Akaash as a writer on multiple shows. He is a writer the MTV "The Hook Up", premiering this fall, as well as the head writer on two MTV2 shows: "Jobs That Don't Suck", premiering in early 2014, and the acclaimed "Charlamagne and Friends" talk show
Akaash is respected for his relentless, thought-provoking brand of humor that catapults and energizes audiences who are left in laughter from the fearless honestly and his gripping stage presence.

About SABCA Foundation:
Each one of us knows someone in our lives who has been diagnosed with this breast cancer. Some who have survived, some who are in treatment, and some who lost the battle. There are many organizations that provide emotional, informational and maybe even financial support, but there wasn't one that reached out to the South Asian Community. Our goal is to “fill” that void.
