Event description
Greetings Latka Lovers! This year we are raising funds to benefit The NorCal Resilience Network.

About this Event

Greetings Latka Lovers! This year Candlelight Supper Club is joining David Hermele to celebrate Latkapalooza ‘19! Enjoy community, make friends, experience kick ass local entertainment AND support an empowering local organization while enjoying the best damn potato cakes and libations in the Bay Area.

About this Event

FOR THE LAST DECADE, David has gathered friends and neighbors to celebrate this holiday called Hanukkah — which mostly gets him excited about making fried potatoes for friends old & new! David loves cooking, but loves community even more. Last year, David cooked over 200 pounds of latkes...This year he is excited to do it again, this time in conjunction with the Candlelight Supper Club. So: help us break potato, break our goal of raising $5000 for the NorCal Resilience Network, breath in warmth and exhale gratitude for light in the darkest of hours.

TICKETS are $30 up till the event time. Tickets will include a righteous serving of latkes with homemade sauces and other sides, an inspirational talk and two accomplished local acts (more info below). Bonus! Awesome silent auction and libations from Revival Bar + Kitchen’s talented crew.

FUNDS raised at the event will help to support the NorCal Resilience Network’s expansion of their Neighborhood Resilience Hubs Initiative. This project is catalyzing a network of demonstration sites across the Bay Area - including homes and neighborhoods, schools, community centers, community gardens and libraries - that showcase climate solutions, community engagement, and off-the-grid emergency preparation for fires, blackouts and other disasters.

Our evening will start with a set from Seastars a band of sisters, united not by blood but by a shared purpose to empower the world through music and art with new narratives of a future that works for 100% of life on planet earth.

The NorCal Resilience Network will have a lineup of guest speakers briefly discussing the inspirational work they do to build resilient, regenerative and equitable communities:

Nazoshnnii Brown-Almaweri from the Sogorea Te' Land Trust, urban Indigenous women-led community organization that facilitates the return of Chochenyo and Karkin Ohlone lands in the San Francisco Bay Area to Indigenous stewardship.

Jonathan Youtt from PLACE for Sustainable Living, an experiential learning center that showcases and foster sustainable living practices, urban homesteading, community resiliency & preparedness, social justice and artistic expression.

Brandi Mack, permaculture designer, educator and founder of the Butterfly Movement, an organization committed to Reframing, Reconnecting, Regenerating and Reactivating, women and girls as they Rebuild their personal and land ecology all over the planet.

Then our evening will kick the groove into gear with The Seastars. Check them out at : https://theseastars.org/music-1followed by Lydia Violet & the Bones who weave together Southern blues, American roots, and Iranian folk music traditions.

Let’s help to make the world a better place one latka at a time ✊
