Description
In 1994, California was at a crossroads. Under then-Republican Governor Pete Wilson, anti-immigrant and anti-Latino sentiment was at an all-time high. Proposition 187, which sought to prevent undocumented immigrants in the state from accessing social services, passed overwhelmingly by a nearly 60% approval. Although Prop. 187 was later struck down in the courts, California’s Latino community took to the streets. They marched, they organized, they voted, and they ran for office. Now 25 years later, what can be said of Latino political power in California? And where is there more work to be done?
Please join us for a historic evening featuring the key leaders that fought against Prop. 187. This will be a night to remember!
