#LatinaGeeks is proud to partner with ESET. Together we present an awesome opportunity for Latinas who want to learn about careers in cybersecurity. ESET is a leading global brand with over 110 million users in 202 countries and territories and they're going to share some insights with our Latina community.

ESET has partnered with #LatinaGeeks to bring you a women led panel sharing their journey and experiences as security subject matter experts. Whether you’re interested in malware detection, product marketing, digital media or system engineering, there is career for you in cybersecurity. Our panel of experts will share insights on excelling as a women in tech. We will end our night with a happy hour where you will be able to connect with the panelists and ESET—all of whom are excited to help you accelerate your career.

Join us for an event focused on advancing women so they can lead future work in privacy and security. Cybersecurity is a rapidly growing industry with predicted 3.5 million cybersecurity job openings by 2021.

There’s only 20 percent of female representation in cybersecurity roles globally and we’re working to change those stats amigas!

What is cybersecurity and how does it apply to you?

Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting systems, networks, and programs from digital attacks. Cyberattacks are usually aimed at assessing, changing, or destroying sensitive information. Knowledge of cybersecurity can help you in your everyday life, especially if you are a business owner or work for a professional firm—you must be taking steps to protect yourself and your data.

Join us as we review the latest in cybersecurity technologies, as well as career growth strategies!

This is panel is open to all. You do not have to be a cybersecurity subject matter expert to attend. Come learn about the latest technologies, connect with Latinas in leadership roles, and learn how they got their start in the tech field.

Our Panelists:

Kristine Lumawag, Accounting Supervisor

Kristine is the Accounting Supervisor at ESET LLC. She is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California. She is responsible for timely, and accurate reporting on the Financial Performance for the year and the Financial Position of ESET, LLC. In her time at ESET, she has implemented processes to improve internal control and streamlined the filing process. Prior to joining ESET, Kristine was a Senior Account at Lytx, a video telematics company. She was in charge of General Ledger Reporting where she implemented efficient procedures and schedules to properly report operating expenses. Kristine Lumawag completed her Bachelors of Science in Accountancy from the University of the Philippines. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from University of Phoenix. Kristine likes to travel and has visited 17 countries. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys joining local San Diego races.

Kayla Garcia, Business Customer Success & Support Manager

Kayla Garcia manages the Business Support and Malware Support teams for ESET N.A., headquartered in San Diego, California. For over 7 years, Kayla has been functioning in various roles in Technical Support starting aTier 1 Consumer Support for two years and working her way up into Tier 2 Consumer Escalation Support. After three years with ESET she volunteered to be a part of the pilot team for Business Chat Support which then opened doors for her to move into a leadership role within ESET as the SMB Supervisor in Technical Support. With great leadership and discipline, she has strategically led the team to new heights by supporting Businesses all across the US and Canada, keeping them safe from cyber threats. Kayla grew up in a small town in Holtville,California. She had graduated with a degree in Computer Information Systems from Imperial Valley College and has obtained various CompTia certifications such as the A+ , Network + and currently studying for Security +. Kayla is a member of the WOW- Women of Workplace group within ESET has volunteered to become a Mentor so she can be of support to others, providing leadership experiences and coaching opportunities. Outside of work Kayla enjoys being involved in the ‘Corgi’ community in San Diego and attends different beach events where other corgi parents gather for the day to let their fur friends play.

Jasmine Garcia, Systems Analyst Lead

Jasmine is the Systems Analyst Lead at ESET North America and is also on the regional leadership council for a non-profit organization, Women in Technology International (WITI). WITI’s mission is to empower women worldwide to achieve unimagined possibilities and transformations through technology, leadership and economic prosperity. Jasmine has been working as a systems and software analyst since 2006, in several areas and roles where she ensures the stability, integrity and efficient operation of enterprise software and other integrated applications. This includes providing technical and functional support, issue resolution, system testing, development and user training.

Diana Anguiano, IT Associate

Diana is an IT Associate specializing in cybersecurity at San Diego Gas & Electric. Ambitious IT Associate with excellent research, time management and problem-solving skills. Her objective is to maximize her potential to continuously demonstrate innovation and integrity in all of her work to ultimately make a positive impact, in the workplace and in the community. She’s involved with various community organizations such as Girls, Inc., San Diego Pride Parade, and San Diego’s Women’s Hackathon.

NETWORKING SESSION (7:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m.)

Parking Option 1: Parking in ESET building on ground floor. Entrance is off India Street. Cost will be $10-12. Accepts credit cards.

Parking Option 2: Free parking on the street after 6pm.

Parking Option 3: Parking on 1468 India St, San Diego, CA 92101. 1 min walking distance to ESET and $8-10 dollars. Accepts credit cards.


Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Yes, attendee must be over 18 years old. Must be over 21 to participate networking event.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Parking instructions will be emailed before event.

What can I bring into the event?

Bring business card and a notebook if you’d like to take notes.

What's the refund policy?

Rain or shine, there's no refunds.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, you could show us your ticket via a mobile device.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Yes, but you would need to contact us to update our records at least two days before event.

Can I show up at the event in case there is an extra ticket available?

In order to avoid interruptions and to stay on schedule, we do not accept walk-ins.
