Lathe Basics with Bruce Perry - Denver
Sat, April 22, 2017, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM MDT
This class is aimed at the brand new woodturner, and is also a useful refresher if you have been years away from the lathe. We cover safety, the how and why of the machine controls, tool nomenclature, sharpening, and selection. Wood holding methods of mounting wood between centers and when to hold wood on a faceplate or in a chuck, are discussed and demonstrated. Cutting methods are emphasized, as the most efficient way to shape wood. Much of the day is hands on spindle turning, learning how to make the tools do the work.
$100 fee, includes cost of materials.
