About the Moderator:

Roger Royse is the founder of Royse Law Firm, PC, a business and tax law firm with offices in Northern and Southern California (www.rroyselaw.com). Roger practices in the areas of corporate and securities law, domestic and international tax, mergers and acquisitions, and fund formation. His clients include international emerging and middle-market companies and high net worth individuals. Roger has represented companies in a variety of industries, including clean tech, Internet, life sciences, entertainment and new media, sports, real estate, retail and mobile devices and applications. Practicing since 1984, Roger’s background includes work with prominent San Francisco Bay area law firms as well as Milbank, Tweed, Hadley and McCloy in New York City. Roger is an adjunct professor at the Golden Gate University Law School Tax program (Corporate, International, Property Transactions) and is a frequent speaker, writer, radio guest, blogger and panelist for bar associations, CPA organizations, and business groups. Roger is a Northern California Super Lawyer, is AV Peer-Rated by Martindale Hubbell, and has a “Superb” rating from Avvo.

André Guéziec is an angel investor, entrepreneur and executive with a unique combination of product vision, technical depth, and start up expertise. His passion is to build a quality product and experience from the ground up.

André founded Beat the Traffic (nicknamed "BTT") in 2001-2003 and successfully sold it to a Canadian media group, Pelmorex (The Weather Network and MeteoMedia) in 2012. The Beat the Traffic system is used by 60 TV stations in many large North American cities. Beat the Traffic is also a popular Smartphone App, consistently in the top 10 in its free navigation category. André started BTT and, as its CEO, grew it to a profitable business with original and defensible Intellectual Property, and an excellent team. In addition to being an angel investor he is also an advisor to technology companies. His sweet spot is to be the catalyst in early stage opportunities where it also makes sense for him to actively participate in an advisory role.

Earlier André was Senior Software Engineer and Architect at Multigen and Borland. André started at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center and has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Univ. Paris 11, and a MS in Economics from Univ. Paris 11 Sorbonne. André also holds a MS in Engineering from Ecole Centrale Paris. He has published about forty peer-reviewed papers, journal articles and book chapters and is an inventor of about 25 U.S Patents.



Ajay Ramachandran is a former serial entrepreneur and angel investor, now turned VC as a Founding Partner at Happiness Ventures - a venture fund that invests in technology companies lead by entrepreneurs who have a passion and mission to make the world a happier place. With $480mm under management, the fund group concentrates on both early stage (Seed and Series A) start-ups and growth stage companies. Happiness Ventures invests with a long-term view and supports our startups throughout their entire lifecycle. Prior to Happiness Ventures, Ajay also co-founded a successful international incubator called SourceN based in Bangalore, India and has been a co-founder/executive in 10 start-ups with 6 acquisitions and 2 IPOs.


Mario Herger is CEO and founder of Enterprise Garage, a boutique strategic consulting group focused on foresight thinking, innovation, and intrapreneurship. He had been Senior Innovation Strategist at SAP Labs in Palo Alto where he had worked for 15 years.

He has written many books, the most recent one on the Silicon-Valley-Mindset. He hosts many delegations from Europe to Silicon Valley and regularly speaks at conferences and conducts innovation workshops. His upcoming book is taking a deeper look in the disruptions coming to the automotive industry. That book, The last driver license holder, will be in book stores in June 2017.




Marc Mengler is the co-founder of Understand.AI, an AI company based in Berlin and San Francisco. Marc holds two master degrees in computer science from the University of Mannheim and Maastricht, where he specialized in machine learning and entrepreneurship. He is a serial entrepreneur and co-founded multiple funded startups. He received a scholarship for Entrepreneurs First (London), the leading deep tech accelerator in Europe.

Marc is deeply engaged in machine learning research and has worked with many automotive OEMs and tier one players. He has developed a holistic understanding of the most relevant machine learning issues relating to autonomous driving, as well as the AI space in general.

Marc is an avid competitive chess player who played against chess legend and former world chess champion Garry Kasparov. When not tweaking machine learning models, he spends his time playing chess.
