This first of two Dialogues events at LateLab marks the culmination of the annual Digital Media Studio Project at Edinburgh College of Art. Teams have created experimental new work for this premier public presentation. Each team has explored a wealth of new technologies to develop an articulate understanding of the potential for their use in digital design, sound and performance.
This visually and sonically arresting structure through which concepts relating to censorship are evoked by way of metaphorical, cryptic, and abstract fragments. This collaborative challenge was set in order to explore remixing and mediation via in-camera and digital editing techniques for producing interactive multi-channel audio and video.
Life in 3D:
Following workshops with world expert in 3D filming Ludger Pfanz, Life in 3D emerged as an experimental project exploring 3D filming and 3D sound. The project will engage visitors with a reactive 3D environment controlled by a Kinekt and the movements of visitors to the space. Expect a multispeaker setup and an extremely large 3D TV.
Exploring interrelationships between sound and image as an improvising ensemble made of musicians, visualists and electronic artists. They're testing the boundaries of narrative in the context of sound and light-based performance, using video, live processing and improvisation techniques in a multi-projector, immersive environment.
