Event description
Approaching the holidays with tools for freedom!

About this Event

The holidays can be a challenging time for those who struggle with eating issues, and COVID-19 is adding even more unique hurdles this year. We know that proper planning, tools, support and accountability make all of the difference in moving from surviving to thriving during the holidays. Join Rock Recovery as we delve into the FINDINGbalance six-week Lasting Freedom Holiday plan to help you find peace with food and joy in your relationships this holiday season.

Each week we will process our highs and lows from the week prior, watch and discuss a special video teaching, set actionable goals, pray and provide encouragement and support to one another.

All groups are led by trained lay professionals in the eating disorder field. This series will be led by Rock Recovery Executive Director, Christie Dondero Bettwy, and Rock Recovery Chaplain, The Rev. Jessica Pomales (see below for bios).

**This is not a replacement for eating disorder clinical treatment and is only meant for support. For details on Rock Recovery's clinical programs visit www.rockrecoveryed.org or visit nationaleatingdisorders.org for more information.

About Christie Dondero Bettwy: Christie came on as Rock Recovery’s first staff member in April 2013 after serving as a faithful volunteer for three years. Having gone through recovery herself, she understands the depth of emotional, physical and spiritual support needed to recover and is passionate about spreading the message that freedom from disordered eating is possible. She is an active speaker and shares her story with organizations and media outlets across the country. Christie lives in Washington, DC with her husband Ryan, who serves as a pastor at their church in Northern Virginia.

About Jessica Pomales: The Rev. Jessica Pomales is an ordained and Board Certified Chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains. Her first experience in chaplaincy was working with pediatric patients experiencing eating disorders. Her call to Chaplaincy was affirmed while listening to their stories and walking alongside them as they journeyed toward healing. She hopes that her gentle presence will be a balm to Rock Recovery clients and their families. Additionally, Chaplain Pomales has a deep passion for gender and racial equality.

About Rock Recovery: Rock Recovery strives to eradicate mental health stigma and spread awareness around eating disorders and provides affordable and transformational resources to those struggling and their support networks. Since 2009, the organization has served more than 150 adults through affordable clinical outpatient recovery programs and educated 16,000 community members to seek help for themselves or their loved ones.
