Description

The Pacific Biodiversity Institute (PBI) www.pacificbio.org is pleased to invite you to the first PBI Conservation Cafe, a monthly venue for provocative environmental films and paradigm-shifting discussions. Join us on a cinematic journey into the shrinking world of the mountain caribou. Washington state’s last remaining herd, which roams the Selkirk Mountains, has dwindled to just 10 members.

Following the 35 minute film, Associate Producer Marcus Reynerson will speak about his experiences with the project. As a naturalist, wildlife tracker, and educator, Marcus has worked in wilderness education and conservation for numerous organizations across the United States for the last seventeen years.

About the Pacific Biodiversity Institute

PBI combines innovative scientific research, education, and technical support to inform, enhance and inspire conservation. Our goal is a rich and enduring biological heritage. With offices in Anacortes, the Methow Valley, and Argentina, we work at the forefront of biodiversity conservation, exploring new terrain through the use of professional and citizen scientists. In high conservation opportunity areas, PBI leads the way in developing new information and understanding to help realize this future.

About the Film

Hidden in the interior of the Pacific Northwest is the largest remaining inland temperate rainforest on earth. This magnificent landscape is home to numerous First Nations communities, thousand year old trees and critical habitat for endangered species like mountain caribou. However, industrial development has pushed this ecosystem to the tipping point. The forthcoming documentary “Last Stand” puts the Caribou Rainforest on the map before it’s too late.
