ZERO1 is excited to host the first LAST (Life, Art, Science, and Technology) Festival. The LAST festival is a weekend-long event that features a combination of interactive multimedia art installations and interactive inspirational talks by luminaries on cutting-edge technology and science taking place June 6-7 at the ZERO1 Garage and will take place during San Jose's Subzero weekend.
Saturday afternoon will be structured as a symposium, chaired by cultural historian Piero Scaruffi, about the disciplines that will change the world in the near future. We invited a visionary speaker for each one. These will be interactive talks in which you will have a chance to ask all the questions that you always wanted to ask.
Saturday's symposium conversation will feature: Peter Norvig, Director of Research at Google, on Artificial Intelligence; Daniel Kaufman, Director of the Information Innovation Office at DARPA, on DARPA's high-tech projects; Jennifer Dionne, director of Stanford's Nanotech Lab, on Defense Technologies; Chris McKay, Chief Planetary Scientist at NASA Ames, on Life in the Universe; and Alvy Ray Smith, cofounder of Pixar.

We connect creative explorers in art, science, and technology to provoke and explore new ideas that build engaged and vibrant communities. ZERO1, in partnership with the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, also runs the American Arts Incubator program. This creative exchange program uses digital and new media to promote cross-cultural collaboration, increase awareness, and provide innovative solutions to pressing social and environmental challenges.
