What's is more useful? A laser cutter or a 3D printer?
For this ylab open house evening, we're going beyond our usual demo and talk and tour of the facility.
Ylab has its proponents on both sides, and we're going to try to settle the argument once and for all. Or until the next newest-latest machine comes out.
We'll have an overview of how they work, a demo or two, and then we'll let ylab's two principal (maybe not principled) opponents fight it out. Verbally. No lasering or melting your opponent.
FROM THE LASER CUTTER SIDE: ylab member Richard, who may have been spotted hugging the laser cutter, whispering "my precious, my precious".(1)
FROM THE 3D PRINTER SIDE: ylab member Peter, who's rumoured to be preparing meals using cheese strings as filament.(1)
Come out to learn, to find out about how the technology is used at ylab and in the real world (we do get out sometimes), and to cheer on your side.
Note (1): Neither of these comments is necessarily true. But they should be investigated.
Please note: 18 year+ event. This event is focused on member and potential members for the Y Lab maker group. We love kids (many of us have our own), but this event is not intended for them. Check out http://theddo.ca for kid and family events.
