About this Event

LARRY DICKSON is a Cincinnati baritone saxophonist and arranger who has performed with a wide variety of outstanding American jazz, pop and show business stars, from bandleader Woody Herman to comedian Bob Hope. Dickson has backed such major vocalists as soul singers Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight; Vegas headliners Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr.; blues crooners Joe Williams and Cab Calloway; and jazz divas Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan. Larry has recorded with James Brown, Dave Brubeck, Gerry Mulligan, Doc Severinsen, Mel Torme and extensively with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. He is a charter member and a major arranger for the Blue Wisp Big Band, which is now celebrating its 40th anniversary. Dickson will be inducted into the Cincinnati Jazz Hall of Fame this March. The latest CD from the Larry Dickson Jazz Quartet is “Winter Horizons.”
