The 4th Annual Mardi Gras 4Paws Parade, inspired by the Bacchus Parade in New Orleans, comes to Frisco Saturday, February 25th, 2017 with its own version for our four-legged friends! LAPS and The Lost Cajun restaurants (located in Frisco and Breckenridge), are combining forces with the Town of Frisco to create a costume parade for dogs and their families. The parade will travel from 2nd street, down to 7th along the sidewalk and back up the other side of the street for a full viewing of the colorful canines and their entourage.
Prizes will be awarded for Dogs in costumes only (although we encourage all 2-leggers to dress up too), for a King and Queen along with a full court of winners. There will also be a "Belinda's Best” category to commemorate Raymond Griffin's late wife, who inspired this event.
Categories for costume prizes include King of the Cajuns, Queen of Romp, Knight of the Food Table, Baroness of Bark and Belinda’s Best. There will be a photo opportunity where the photos will be available online the next week, but bring your own camera too!
Join us for the parade, costume judging, photo fun and refreshments from 2 pm to 5 pm on Saturday, February 25th, 2017. Event day registration starts at 2pm if you miss the online registration. The parade starts at 3:45pm, with costume contests at 4:30pm…and you can enjoy listening to the festive Mardi Gras music, while you sip the New Belgium beer, wine, hot Abbey's coffee or hot chocolate during Yappy Hour. The Lost Cajun is cooking up their delicious gumbo and beignets and we are planning on selling our own version of bottled Doggie Beer too (beef and chicken broth in sealed, custom bottles)!
Even if you don't have a mutt and just want to come join the fun as a spectator, you can buy $5 tokens for the gumbo, drinks and/or Doggie Beer. Each $20 paid registration gets a token for one bowl of free gumbo and a beignet or one free drink or one free Doggie Beer and you can buy as many tokens as you want at the event. All proceeds benefit L.A.P.S. which gives financial aid for high vet bills to lower income local families.
