Language Access Plan Information Session

Language Access Plan Information Session

Overview

Language Access Plan Information Session

As Guam continues to serve a diverse and multilingual population, ensuring meaningful language access remains essential to providing equitable and inclusive services for all members of the community. It is important that all Government of Guam agencies understand their responsibilities and are equipped with the knowledge and resources necessary to provide meaningful access to individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP), Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HH) individuals, and those who are non-English speakers.

As mandated by Presidential Executive Order 13166, Improving Access to Services for Persons with Limited English Proficiency, federally funded agencies and programs are required to take reasonable steps to ensure meaningful language access services. In support of these federal requirements, Guam Executive Order 2015-015 reinforces the Government of Guam’s commitment to improving accessibility and ensuring equitable communication and services for all individuals, including multilingual communities and persons with disabilities.

Agency Directors, Deputy Directors, ADA Coordinators and/or designated representatives are strongly encouraged to attend the session to learn about what is a Language Access Plan (LAP), why a LAP matters in your agency, and potential phases as you all prepare to ensure your commitment in developing a plan for language access in your agency.
