Join us at San Francisco Running Company for a screening of the third film in Kilian Jornet's "Summits of My Life" series, Langtang, which benefits the Langtang Disaster Relief Fund. Starting at 6:30pm, there will be an easy, 4 mile shake-out run (all levels welcome!) with our friends from Salomon who will have a number shoes to demo. If you've been curious about the new, lightweight Sonic Pro for road, or Kilian's shoe of choice, the Sense Ultra 5, then you won't want to miss it! Refreshments will be served after the run, and the film will start at 7:30pm, followed by a raffle from Salomon.
Tickets are available for online purchase only. All proceeds from the screening and raffle will be donated to the Langtang Disaster Relief Fund.
The third film in Kilian Jornet's series, "Summits of My Life," Langtang is the story of his journey to the heart of Nepal. In April 2015, ultra runner Kilian Jornet was preparing for an expedition to Everest as part of his project, ‘Summits of My Life,’ together with alpinist Jordi Tosas and filmmaker Sébastien Montaz-Rosset.
Two days before departure, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal with devastating effect, and Jordi’s beloved Langtang Valley was all but eradicated.
Putting their original objective to the side, the team travelled to Nepal with hope of offering help to the place they hold dear to their hearts.
With the rhododendron flowers of Langtang heralding the arrival of spring, nothing could prepare them for the level of destruction they found as they make their precarious way up a valley ripped apart by the force of nature.
The friends encountered unfailing generosity wherever they went, as communities tried to continue living their lives with the little they had. A recurring phrase stands out as the mantra of the moment - ‘We will rise again!’.
Langtang is also an ode to life, a tribute to hope, and a search for new horizons.
