Landscaping with Fl Natives Tour
Overview
Landscaping with FL Natives Tour
Now in our 16th year of the Annual Landscaping with Florida Natives Tour, this year we're focusing on homes in the Palm Bay and south Melbourne area including the Melbourne Founders Museum that shares the story of the African American families that founded the area. With over 1,000 people moving to Florida each day, there is A LOT of housing development and usually developers remove all native vegetation in their speed to get new homes put up quickly. It's sad to see all the plants and wildlife removed so rapidly and unfortunately, the people new to Florida often think they can still landscape the way they used to with lots of grass and other non-native plants which usually doesn't last.
The purpose of the landscaping tour is to provide education on the native plants in Florida that grow well here by showcasing homes with mature native landscapes. This year we’re also adding local artists at the sites highlighting their work with nature!
