Event description

Description

Lexington, Louisville, and 17 other areas in Kentucky have adopted the Uniform Residential Landlord Tenant Act (URLTA), a set of laws that govern rental properties. If you own and manage rental properties, you need to be an expert on the URLTA. This second Landlord Education Conference of 2019 will give you the information and the confidence you need to manage your property successfully and without violating the law. We'll cover the following topics, with special emphasis on security deposits, the topic that gets more landlords sued than any other.

  • What to do when your lease conflicts with the URLTA
  • Which lease provisions are prohibited by the URLTA
  • Which rules and regulations are allowed by the URLTA
  • How to comply with URLTA’s security deposit requirements
  • How to create a Security Deposit Checklist
  • Maintenance obligations for both Landlords and Tenants
  • When Tenants may break the lease
  • When and how Landlords may enter a unit
  • What to do when you have fire/water/casualty damage
  • What to do when your Tenant takes an extended absence
  • When the Landlord may enter the rental unit

We'll have coffee, pastries, and plenty of written materials. I keep these conferences small so that everyone has time to ask the questions they want answered and so that you get the chance to meet and learn from your colleagues in the industry. The class will fill up quickly, so get registered today.
