Event description
Help validate global standard land cover data! Join students and geographers in creating ML training data for global, annual impact (w/food)

About this Event

Radiant Earth Foundation, in partnership with YouthMappers, is seeking remote sensing and GIS students and professionals to validate a ground-breaking dataset that will power machine learning (ML) global land cover classifications, to be hosted on Radiant MLHub.

Interested validators are invited to the first training session and validation party at Radiant Earth's DC offices. Food and the opportunity to learn about Radiant Earth's projects will be provided; please bring a laptop!

The world runs on data, but developing communities are put at a disadvantage without the resources to collect needed information. Radiant Earth is making data more accessible than ever by making ML analysis of satellite imagery possible with open training data on Radiant MLHub.

This open training data, using 10 m multispectral Sentinel-2 imagery, will allow annual land cover classifications, providing deep insight into the ways the Earth changes using limited human resources.

Validators will ensure that the initial training predictions are accurate and precise, securing a clean and ready to use dataset.

After an initial training, validators can keep contributing through our online tools.
